Diet
Pay attention to the food pyramid. If you're one of the 99.9% of us who is not eating the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables, get started today. Use the food diary. It's simple and can help you focus. Supplement with whole food supplements not vitamins and minerals unless specifically tested for. Eat breakfast. Make it fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Add Omega 3 oils to your diet.
Americans, by and large, eat a very unhealthy diet. Though we have more money and consume more than any other country, we aren’t even close to the tops in our health statistics. This is largely due to our diet. Without proper and healthy (natural, minimally processed, no chemical additives, no pesticides, no herbicides, no hormones, no genetic altering, low refined sugar, low bad fats) building blocks for our cells how can our innate intelligence do its job of creating health?
Yet, how are we going to change what we eat when we don’t even know why we eat what we do? Sure, it might be for convenience or taste but maybe there’s more to it. Take ice cream (or your favorite treat). Remember when you were a kid and mom or dad gave you that “special treat?” Wasn’t that wonderful? Didn’t that make you feel special and loved and …? Don’t you suppose that underlying feeling carries forward at a deep level even today? For example, maybe you’re having a bad day and feel like you need a treat to pick you up. Ice cream. It may well be that we are attached to the feeling of love and being special that goes with getting that treat more than we are to the treat itself.
Imagine the power, the self-empowerment, that goes with recognizing that it is, say, the feeling of love that we want and not so much the ice cream. Imagine the power in learning how to actually give our selves love in a healthy way not through old attachments to unhealthy foods. This can change our lives in fantastic ways!
